Privacy Policy
Effective 16 October 2026. Applies to the NativeChrome extension, version 2.1.0 and later, and to this website.
The short version
- NativeChrome does not collect, sell or share your data.
- Your notes and settings stay in Chrome's own storage on your computer and, if you use Chrome sync, in your own Chrome account.
- There is no NativeChrome account, server, analytics, advertising or tracking.
- The only outside requests the extension makes are for its wallpaper images, which load from Unsplash.
Who we are
NativeChrome is a product of Gkernel, a software company in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh. On the Chrome Web Store it is published by Niloy Mahmud Apu, Gkernel's CEO. In this policy, "we" means Gkernel.
What the extension stores
To work as your new tab, NativeChrome keeps your workspace:
- the notes and folders you create, with their names and text;
- your sticky notes: their text, color, size, position and whether they are open;
- the shortcuts on your canvas: each one's title, web address and position;
- your preferences, such as the chosen wallpaper, the sidebar's width and which tabs are open.
This is saved with Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your computer. A compressed copy is saved with chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome copies to your Google account when Chrome sync is on, so your workspace reaches your other computers. Synced data is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. We cannot see or reach any of it.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Storage
- Saves your workspace on your computer and syncs a compressed copy through your Chrome account, as described above.
- Bookmarks
- Shows your bookmarks in the sidebar and lets you add, edit, rename, move and delete them, and drag them onto the canvas. Your changes are saved to Chrome's own bookmarks, exactly as if you made them in Chrome's bookmark manager.
- Favicon
- Shows site icons for your bookmarks and shortcuts from Chrome's own icon cache on your computer, so the addresses of the sites you use are never sent to an outside icon service.
- Top sites
- The first time you open NativeChrome, it reads your most visited sites once to place starting shortcuts on the canvas. The list is read on your computer, is never sent anywhere, and is not read again.
Network requests
The extension's only outside requests are for its eight wallpaper images, loaded from images.unsplash.com. Like any image request, it carries the standard information a browser sends, such as your IP address and browser version. It never includes your notes, bookmarks, shortcuts or any other workspace data. Unsplash's handling of those requests is covered by the Unsplash Privacy Policy.
When you open a shortcut or bookmark, Chrome visits that site as it would from any other page.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information, browsing history or the contents of web pages, and we never receive anything you type into NativeChrome.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or fingerprinting.
- We do not sell or transfer user data to anyone, use it for any purpose other than NativeChrome's single purpose, or use it to decide creditworthiness or for lending.
NativeChrome's use of information received from Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your control over your data
- Edit or delete any note, sticky note, folder or shortcut at any time from NativeChrome itself.
- To stop syncing, turn off syncing for extensions in Chrome's sync settings. Your workspace stays saved on your computer.
- Switching NativeChrome off at
chrome://extensionskeeps your workspace for later. Removing it deletes what it saved on that computer. - Data copied to your Google account by Chrome sync can be cleared from Chrome's sync settings.
This website
nativechrome.gkernel.com uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or third-party scripts, fonts or embeds. The service that hosts it may keep standard access logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to keep the site secure and running.
Links to the Chrome Web Store carry a utm_source label so the store's own statistics can show that a visit came from this site. It identifies this website, not you. Google's privacy policy applies on the Chrome Web Store.
Children
NativeChrome collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the way NativeChrome handles data changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change ships, and mention it in the release notes on the home page.
